nice. i had a productive blog fixing session. lets see. first i made an actual about page. (but i just straight copied my previous post). changed the comment section to not be ugly. got the tag links working (this one for ‘clunkity’) so they actually display the posts. tweaked the navigation. and made a footer! looking decent!
so recently i’ve been really wanting to try out some visualization techniques. different ways to effectively display data. making data less complicated. something i’ve always been interested in. there’s some really cool stuff out there and i want to give it a shot. from straight up infographs to actionscripts to complex interactive flash. this was partially the reason i redid clunkity. so now i have a subdomain dedicated to this: vis.clunkity.com. nothing there right now, but hopefully there will be soon!
finally got a “front page” up for clunkity.com. just links to different sections of the site instead of just forwarding to this blog. not sure how it will effect the traffic flow. but i was worried my photoblog was getting lost. plus i’m hoping for some new additions coming soon…
i forgot how much of a mess this blog is. lots of things that need to be touched up. i need to redo navigation. i need to redo the comment form. it’s freaking ugly. clicking tags gives garbage. this site is barely functional. what a mess.
i need to make an about page, so i might as well just write a post for it. lets see, why did i start this… basically because i’m easily distracted and restless. i have ADD when it comes to personal projects. i get all excited about something, dive head first into it, work on it a bit…then get excited about something else. repeat. so now i have a bunch of half assed projects lying around. and i have even more in my head that i want to do. so i was thinking documenting/discussing/organizing my current/old/future projects would put me in a more focused mindset. perhaps make me revisit some old projects. maybe get a better understanding of potential new projects. or maybe i’m starting this site because i’ve never actually had a blog and i just want to blabber. i think that’s the real reason. so yea the posts will probably be aimed at projects or what i’m interested in. plus throw in some totally random stuff. and then you have this site.
so i guess i’ll be adding my “photoblog” posts here as well. you know. just to fill this thing with content. clunkity pics!
well i decided to actually start a “blog”. not sure if it will go a certain direction or not. probably not. but i wanted to start one to document all the little “projects” i’m attempting to work on. attempt usually means start and never finish in my case. but i say effort counts for something. anyways. i threw together a design real quick. black and white. simple hopefully. straightforward. still have a bunch of kinks that need to be ironed out, but the basic layout is complete. hopefully not too ugly? yes work in progress.
